Ideas For A Fun Snow Day

Where do you live? We live in Chiberia. It’s a real place, I promise. I thought we were moving to Chicago but I was wrong. It’s Chiberia. Brrr, brrr, brrr. It hurts. I had a roommate in college who was from Michigan and she would always talk about how cold it was there. I would just brush it off, I’m from Utah and it snows there, I knew what she was talking about. False!

My other roommates moved from Chicago to Connecticut months before we moved from CT to Chicago, lame timing is all I can say! I of course asked her what to expect, and added that I was excited to buy some more cute coats, etc. Then she informed me that I needed to worry about function, not fashion. {Heart. Broken.}

The best way to describe the weather in the arctic…ahem, I mean the midwest, is that it hurts. Walking outside when it’s -25 wind chill hurts, it just does, and unfortunately I understand it now. I’m living it. Holy cow, why?

Preschool was cancelled two days in a row and we were getting a little cooped up in our cute little house. For the first couple hours he showed me how his really cool new trucks worked:

And he played

…and played…

…and played.

Seriously, these trucks really are awesome! He is all boy, and he was having a ball playing with them. He has several, as you can see, and loves to play with them. My parents even bought a few so he could have them at their house when we were there. They are a hit around here. Check out more of our favorite Toy State Toys here:

What do you do with your kids when school is cancelled due to bad weather? Are you prepared in advance? Or do you just wing it?
