Dilly Beef Sandwich

We went Christmas shopping this weekend…what a joke! There are so many people it’s ridiculous. We were super lucky…every time we got in line it was short, as soon as we were done checking out the lines were outrageous. So that was nice. After a long afternoon of shopping we came home to this:

Dilly Beef Sandwiches
Recipe modified from Just Cooking found on Pinterest

Our house smelled amazing! I love using the crockpot for that very reason. This recipe is so easy, all you need to do is throw 3 ingredients in the crockpot:

1 3 lb beef sirloin roast (mine was more like 2.75 lbs, but whatev!)
1 jar chili sauce
1 medium jar of sliced dill pickles (with juice)
12 rolls

Before you throw them in the crockpot you do need to

1. Warm some oil in a pan and brown the roast
2. Place the roast in the crockpot

3. Pour jar of pickles (with juice), and chili sauce over roast
4. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours-depending upon how big your roast is.
*I had to throw it in fast, but if you have more time you can cook it on low for 6-8 hours

When it’s done:
Shred the roast in the crockpot
Place a generous amount of the shredded meat and pickles into a roll

I really liked this recipe. I haven’t tasted anything like this before. My husband isn’t a big fan of pickles so I had to throw this all together really fast before he could tell me to do otherwise 🙂 I know, I’m terrible, but I really wanted to try it!!!

This is what The Mr. said when I asked how he liked it: “I don’t love pickles. That’s why I don’t buy pickles. That’s why I take the pickles off of my hamburger, and why I don’t buy dill flavored sunflower seeds.” haha, he kills me…dill sunflower seeds. “I don’t prefer the taste of dill pickle but the meat is so tender, and so good.” *Don’t worry, he wasn’t upset, he was saying all this in a joking manner*

He wasn’t kidding. The meat was so tender, and so good! The sirloin roast was the perfect fit for this recipe! If you love pickles you seriously have to make this! Even if you only like pickles you have to try it.
