A Few Of My Favorite Things

After I graduated from college I went looking for a full time job! (Just like everyone else). I turned in a bazillion applications and interviewed at a couple places and finally landed my first full time job as a college grad, or was it my first full time job? Anyway great right? Well it was at a call center…not so great. The first month was awesome! All the calls were inbound and they never stopped! The company bought everyone lunch because they needed us to stay on the phones-bonus! Who doesn’t love free lunch? It didn’t hurt that I made bank too!!
After the first month we had to do outbound calls for an hour or two a day, until eventually that was all we were doing. Outbound calls are no fun…people hate you. It was so hard coming home everyday having people basically tell you you’re an idiot, ya it was only a few here and there but still. It wasn’t like we were calling random people either, we were calling businesses on behalf of their banks. We still made pretty good money too, but it wasn’t fun anymore.

…Don’t get me wrong, I was so grateful to have a job, especially since the Mr. was working on his undergrad, and there were (and still are) so many without jobs.

Sidenote: Ya know those studies you hear periodically on the news about employees who spend a lot of time on the internet? Ya, I was totally one of those employees! I never said I deserved a gold star every day. I surfed the internet like it was my day job…and it wasn’t! Let’s be honest, I wasn’t the only one-that doesn’t make it right, but it helped make me feel better about it.

This leads me to my point…did it take long enough?

It’s because of this job that I hated that I came across some of the most amazing baking/cooking blogs in the world! AND learned how to make cake balls! Yes, that’s where I was leading with this. Cake balls! That was the silver lining of this job that I hated, if it weren’t for this job I wouldn’t have surfed the internet and found the love of my life!

Red Velvet Cake Balls are life changing

It’s a fact!
What else do I love?
Colorful cupcake liners. Love them! Funny thing, for as much as I bake I had never purchased any until a few weeks ago. It’s hard justifying paying $2 for 50 liners…so when I saw them on sale I had to buy them. Now I just need to figure out what cupcakes will look bomb in them! 🙂

-Triffle Bowls. Especially mini ones…Love making individual jello and parfaits.

-Crepe Makers I don’t own one, but turns out Christmas is right around the corner and I think Santa might have one in his sleigh with my name on it! It’s difficult to make them all thin without the proper apparatus.

Double Broiler Again, I don’t own one but they’re so handy to have. My mom and some of my siblings have them, and I’m pretty sure I need one too. It’s not urgent, but ya know, someday.

-Cake Stands If I could I would collect them (space is limited). I love them. I told the Mr. when we’re done with school and settled into a more permanent home we are going to entertain a whole lot, and I.Can’t.Wait! Oh how I love a good presentation, and some good food—I got it from my mama! She always makes every meal such a beautiful presentation, and I LOVE IT!

Lets see favorite things. Cake balls or cake pops. Love crepes and scones. Reading good books. Crafting (I have an addiction). I could go on and on. If you have a minute, check out my blog I have an entry on it regarding crepes. Found a super easy recipe, no fancy tools required. 🙂
