Last weekend Macy’s put together another killer Spring Fashion event hosted by Clinton Kelly Check out my first event with costume designer Mandi Line here. Clinton Kelly did a great job, he’s really funny! 10 years of experience telling people what they’re doing wrong with their wardrobe will do that for you I guess.
He divided the show into four sections:
Work, Weekend Look, Date Night, Party Perfect
WORK
- Take chances with jewelry. Go bold in one place.
- Pop khaki with great COLOR
- If you’re wearing a pencil skirt and your weight is in your stomach keep your shirt untucked! But if you’re more narrow tuck that shirt it!
- This season is all about Cobalt, Aztec, mixing prints and Neon!!! Oh, and matching is back too
- Suits. When choosing a suit color go for a neutral so you can change it up. However, if you wear a suit every day go crazy for a mint suit. You can’t wear black and grey everyday! Can you?
Weekend Look
- Hi-Lo, Gladiator, acid wash/tie dye
- Crop denim jackets pairs well with dresses because it dresses down a fancy dress
- Maxi’s work best if tall and or thin. You need height to balance out the width because there’s a lot of excess fabric in a maxi dress. If you are short, just make sure and hem your dress. If you’re short and larger you need height, so add a fabulous heel or wedge shoe to your ensemble.
- If you wear just black and white make sure you accessorize well! Play with prints and textures. If you’re not sure how to do that start out with red and white, or blue and white.
- Oen I’m not so sure about yet…denim on denim! If you do jump on this bandwagon just make sure you accessorize well! Chambry, denim and neon!
Date Night
- A sheath dress is an investment because you can wear it year round! Add a jacket in the fall and boots and tights during the winter
- Lace for day is a big trend right now
- Skinny jeans are everywhere and continue to be a staple. Don’t fear them even though they emphasise your booty and thighs. Just make sure you look for tops that are longer, but not so long that they cover your butt, because that will shorten your leg line. You want your top to go half way down the bottom
- Peplum is huge!
- Like colors don’t have to match, but just think, if the two colors would be in the same quadrant of the crayon box they work well together!
- Have a tuxedo jacket? Wear it with a long high low shirt to mix it up.
Party Perfect
- Watercolor print is all the rage right now! Wear it with a lace overlay and you’ve got yourself an amazing combo!
- Great Gatsby on your mind? Go out wearing our best black and gold! Go metallic!!
- What type of necklace should you wear?
- V-neck—>Pendant
- Round—->Round, or nothing
