Designer Area Rug with Grund America

We spend a lot of time in our homes, especially our bedrooms, so I wanted to share with you the four things I do to Embellish my living space because I believe it is really important to love life and one of the best ways to do that is to love were you live.

Texture

If you love white, like I do, then you’ll want to be sure to add a lot of different textures to your design. If you don’t you’ll be left with a room that has very little character. White can be difficult to design with but as long as you get texture down you’ll be sitting pretty. Literally.

Color

I love adding color to any room with throw pillows. Pillows are the easiest way to transform your room between seasons, your style preferences or if you just want a change. You’re not going to buy a new comforter or couch just for the Holidays, right? Those are investment pieces. But you can change the feel of any room with throw pillows…and I for one think you should. My husband has a different opinion on this, but that’s ok.

Natural Light

Natural light is the number one thing on my list anytime we move. Is there enough natural light? If not, then we move on to the next house. Research proves that natural light has a positive effect on our health. One of the first things I do every morning is open the blinds in every room of our house, and when I don’t I notice a change in attitude in my boys and myself as the day goes on. Open those blinds my friends!

Designer Area Rug

One of the newest ways I love to embellish a room is a designer area rug. The one I have is from Grund America. I love this rug because it’s washable, and with young kids I need washable. It just makes sense. The number one rule of decorating with an area rug is to purchase the rug with your lifestyle in mind. If you have young kids like I do, or pets, purchase one like mine that can clean easily, and has some pattern that can hide the inevitable signs that there is life in your home.
