This week I packed my sweet boys in the car to grab some things we need for their baby brother, who is due in a few weeks! One of those things is diapers. So off we went to Meijer because they had a great sale going on {spend $50 get $10 on your next shopping trip!}, and because Meijer will donate to the National Diaper Bank via the “No Baby Unhugged” donation program when you purchase Huggies at Meijer stores. It was a good opportunity to help prepare my youngest for potty training because babies need diapers, and a learning opportunity for my oldest as I was able to teach him about the importance of sharing with those in need.

YOU  can donate your reward points to the National Diaper Bank too,
with the new Huggies Reward App!

It has always been a priority of ours to teach our boys the importance of sharing. Not just with our family and friends but also with those in need. This holiday season we’ve taken every opportunity we could to share that with our boys. That’s why this year I decided to help get them ready for the holidays and their new baby brother by getting him a few presents as well. Soon we will be a family of 5 and I want them to see that their new baby brother is a big part of this family already, so they wont be the only boys with gifts under the tree this year.

With this being our third boy he’s not in need of clothes or bedding, so we’re focusing on things that he really needs like Huggies Little Snugglers Diapers, and Huggies Natural Care Wipes. There are so many families in need of these necessities, and often times they have to decide between buying diapers and paying their bills. I can’t imagine the stress of having to make that decision! It makes me feel so good purchasing our Huggies at Meijer knowing that they are prepared to donate hundreds of thousands of diapers to those in need.

Now that we have helped Huggies in their quest to give diapers to those in need, I wanted to share some ways I’m preparing my 5-year-old and toddler for his baby brother’s arrival! We're preparing our boys for the holidays and their baby brother's arrival by teaching them I to share with those in need with Huggies at Meijer. 1. Open Communication About Baby Every week I’ve watched a video with my 5-year-old about what his baby brother is learning to do, and how he is growing and developing. He loves it and is so interested to learn what he’s doing now, if his kicks hurt, and if my tummy gets wet if the baby gets wet. The ideas he comes up with are out of this world and I love it.
  2. Talk About What Will Happen At The Hospital I remind my oldest what it was like when he visited his little brother in the hospital. We look at videos and pictures of the two of them, before they could play together! I also tell both my boys what will happen the couple days before, and the day I go into the hospital to deliver their baby brother.
  3. Read Books My boys love books! I’ve read them lots of books about being a big brother, and I always change the names of the characters to their own. This really hits home and helps my toddler understand a little what life will be like as a big brother.
  4. Doctor Visits Every chance we get we take both boys to the doctor with me. With my oldest in school it doesn’t happen as often, but we always make a point of having him come to big appointments. Like ultrasounds! He loves seeing his baby brother move. It’s fun experiencing this with him, now that he really understands so much more than he did before.
  5. Gifts Gifts always warm little boys hearts! Their baby brother has a gift under the tree for each of them, and a gift he will give them when they come see him in the hospital for the first time. My oldest still remembers that his little brother brought him a tool set when he was born! It’s a really good way to help the older siblings feel special, wanted and important too!
