Apple Roses Puffed Pastry

Please Note: This recipe makes 6, if you want more be sure to purchase more apples. You should have enough of everything else.

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen puff pastry sheet, thawed
  • 2 red apples
  • half lemon, juice
  • 1 Tbsp of flour, to sprinkle the counter
  • 3 Tbsp of apricot preserve
  • Cinnamon {optional}
  • Powdered sugar for decorating {optional}

Instructions

  1. Thaw the puff pastry. It should take about 20-30 minutes
  2. Preheat oven 375 degrees
  3. Combine the water and lemon juice in a bowl. Cut the apples in half, remove the core and cut the apples in paper thin slices. Seriously as thin as possible. Leave the peel so so your roses will have a red color. Immediately place slices in the lemon water so they don’t brown
  4.  Microwave the apples in the bowl, for about 3 minutes, or until softened so they can bend
  5. Unwrap the puff pastry over a clean and lightly floured counter. Using a rolling pin stretch the dough, keep the rectangular shape. Cut the dough in 6 strips, about 2″x9″
  6. In a bowl combine 3 Tbsp of apricot preserve with 2 Tbsp of water. Microwave for about one minute, so it’s easy to spread. Spread the preserve on the dough then drain the apples
  7. Place the apples on the dough in a line along the top half of the dough, overlapping one another. Sprinkle with cinnamon
  8. Fold up the bottom part of the dough up
  9. Carefully roll, seal the edge, and place in a muffin cup. Repeat
    • No need to grease the muffin mold if it’s silicone. However, if it’s not you must grease it!
  10. Bake at 375 degrees for about 40-45 minutes, until fully cooked
    • If after about 30 minutes the apples look fully cooked, or beginning to singe, move the pan to a lower rack in the oven, and turn the heat down, to avoid undercooking the pastry
  11. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy!

Aren’t these the cutest? I got the idea from Cooking with Manuela
