Breastfeeding 6-Months and Beyond

I’m delighted to share my experience with you. A lot has gone on since I last shared 3 Ways To Keep Your Infant Healthy and Safe. My sweet baby was only 6 months old. Now he’s 10-months-old! So I thought I’d share my journey with breastfeeding 6-Months and beyond with you.

Breastfeeding 6-Months and Beyond

Between his 6 and 9-month-old checkup he grew an inch but didn’t gain any weight. At 6-months the doctor mentioned that we needed to keep an eye on his weight, and to call if I had any concerns. About two months later I began noticing him getting skinnier and skinnier so I called to set an appointment to weigh him. The nurse took the information back to the doctor and said he would be in if he was worried. He of course walked in less than a minute later and said, “You were worried, now I’m worried!”

There’s a significant difference in those chubby cheeks

While it’s not fun to hear a doctor say something like that, it was good to know that I followed my instinct and get my baby in to get weighed. It can be scary as a parent, even if you’re on your third baby!

Luckily all was well with our little guy! I started feeding him formula a couple times a day, and have been able to still breastfeed him! Which I love to do.

Each baby is so different. I truly believe very few things can be as helpful as a mother’s instinct. Every mother wants to give their baby the healthy start they need to grow healthy and strong.

Very few things can be as helpful as a mother’s instinct…

I want to take this opportunity to talk about Evivo with you. It is the first and only probiotic that is clinically proven to restore a baby’s gut microbiome to its original, natural state. If there was something more serious happening with my baby I would have done everything within my power to make it right. Doctor appointments, physical therapy to help his muscles develop, speech therapy if he needed it. Anything! There is nothing as important to me as providing my babies with all the support they need.

Here are some interesting facts for you:

  • There are at least two children with food allergies in almost every kindergarten classroom (FARE)
  • Over one million children in the U.S. have type 1 diabetes (American Diabetes Association)
  • The rate of obesity doubles as children grow from toddlers to teens (CDC)
  • 9.6 million children under the age of 18 have eczema; of this total, 3.2 million children (33%) have moderate to severe cases (National Eczema Org)

According to Evivo “When we look at the high rates of eczema, allergies, diabetes and obesity in kids, especially compared to our grandparents’ generation, research confirms a specific type of good gut bacteria called B. infantis has gone missing in many present-day U.S. babies, causing an imbalance in the gut that isn’t always symptomatic or seen from the outside.”

That’s where a parents’ instinct comes in. No-one knows when your baby is hungry, tired, happy, sad, sick, well, etc. like you do. So if you feel like your baby’s gut bacteria is important I suggest you learn as much as you can about Evivo here!
