Add a little syrup…although it’s not necessary, it’s sweet enough on it’s own. I tried it both ways, and I really liked it without the syrup too!
Next time I’m going to add 1/4 t of nutmeg…and only 1/4t cinnamon…num!
TIP: If you’re in a hurry go ahead and make french toast the normal way (ya know, dip your bread in the egg mixture, then cook the individual pieces on a hot skillet), then top it with the filling!
I’m 100% sure I’m doing it this way next time…I had some trouble with it cooking all the way through since I used a 9×9-inch. After an hour of cooking I split it in half and put each half in it’s own pan. What a pain!
This has got to be 5 STARS! We both loved the filling!
