Lion House Tuna Sandwiches

It is so nice being in our own home. I will always cherish the time we were able to spend back home with family while my husband did some rotations in Utah. A lot changed over that two months, namely my son’s ability to speak multiple sentences at one time. It’s crazy how fast they grow! We had a Superbowl party while we were there and I can’t wait to share some of our family favorite recipes.

If you grew up in or around Salt Lake City, chances are you attended a birthday party at The Lion House. Unfortunately, they don’t do these parties anymore, but luckily my mom was able to recreate some of their recipes. Yum!

Lion House Tuna Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • One loaf white bread, ribbon sliced {sliced horizontally}. You can order bread sliced like this at the bakery, just do it a day or two ahead of when you need it.
  • 2 cans of white tuna
  • Miracle whip
  • Cheez Whiz {in the bottle}
  • Dried Parsley

Instructions

  1. Mix the tuna fish and miracle whip to desired consistancy
  2. Spread tuna fish on the bottom layer of bread
  3. Place a slice of bread on top of tuna  fish layer
  4. Spread a layer of Cheez Whiz on top of the second slice
  5. Alternate the tuna and cheez layers untila ll teh bread is used
  6. On the very top layer {no tuna or cheez} spread a thin coat of miracle whip, enough to moisten the bread, and garnish with the dried parsley.
  7. Cover with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve
  8. This recipe is better if it is made a day ahead as the bread softens; but this is not critical
  9. When ready to serve, slice pieces into desired thickness
