It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, I’m always down for a party, but there is something special about a summer party. The soft hum of the neighbor’s lawn mower {in my case combine}, the smell of fresh veggies on the grill, and my bag of M&M’s® having the potential to melt in the car instead of freeze. I love seeing bright Reds, Whites and Blues, and colorful flowers growing in flowerbeds.

Oh and there’s the opportunity to show off some of my white serving dishes that I’ve been so earnestly collecting over the last year or so. That might be one of my favorite things about throwing a party. What can I say? I’m a simple girl at heart. Would somebody please send my husband that memo?I really, truly love planning parties and today I’m going to share with you some of my go-to party ideas, and some new favorites that I can’t wait to start implementing. First try and make it convenient for yourself. One surefire way to do that is to pick up a XXL M&M’s® Original at Sam’s Club. Ok, you can get M&M’s® Crispy and M&M’s® Peanut too. I won’t tell…because I did!

The XXL bags are perfect for summer because you never know when you’re going to need to make a dozen cookies, a flag cake, or a little pick me up because your kids are stressing you out and totally taking over your “me time”. What is that anyway? You could ask them to make some cookie dough dip. But don’t leave them alone with it for too long because they might eat it all.

Seriously.A new party staple of mine is Foil Fringe Door Hangers. I love buying 2 or three and layering them for more sparkle. For this party the sun was so magnificent I wanted to put my table by the windows, not a wall, so I laid the hangers on the table and I love how it turned out.

I’m also loving printables. Trust me, my son’s birthday is full of them. You can find these nautical printables here.

Get the recipe for my M&M’s Cookie Dough Dip hereYou won’t regret it.

P.S. These pretzel cookies are super easy to make. Heat oven to 275 degrees, place your pretzels on a baking sheet, top them with your unwrapped Dove Chocolates, put in warm oven for 3-5 minutes, top with M&M’s®

How do you use your XXL big bag of M&M’s® throughout the summer months?
