Every year, after the holiday season has come and gone, there are a few things that I really try to tackle. The first thing on my list is to clean up all the holiday decorations. I love putting them up every year, but I think I like taking them down just as much. There’s something so liberating about having a clean, and clutter free home. Next, I change my mindset from what goodies can I make back to what healthy meals can I make for my family?

I think a lot of people have those same thoughts after the holidays.

What about our beauty routine? Is your summer beauty routine the same as your winter skincare routine? If you do stop, please stop! Your skin needs different things throughout the year. I always moisturize, but I tend to use a moisturizer with a higher SPF in the summer, and something a little thicker during the cold winter months.

The chilling Chicago wind attacks my skin and leaves it dry and needing moisture. I talked a little about the need for moisture during the cold winter months here too (link). Olay Whips is a great product to try. It’s been called the unicorn of moisturizers to overcome your winter skin problems.

A lot of times face creams leave my skin feeling, and looking, oily. Which I really dislike. Olay Whips transforms from cream to liquid on skin for instant absorption…which is where the “unicorn” comes in. It leaves skin feeling soft and smooth with a matte finish, which I love!

I’m on the matte train and I hope it never stops. I understand our skin has a natural oil sheen to it, but that’s why we have powder. If there is a cream that helps my dry winter skin while maintaining a nice matte finish I really can’t ask for anything more.
