Summer Party Savings with Price Chopper

One thing I look forward to most during summer is definitely the 4th of July, and 24th of July if you live in Utah! Growing up, I always looked forward to the fireworks! Now I have something even more exciting to look forward to…my son’s birthday. It’s perfect, I will never have to pay for {the expensive} fireworks to celebrate his birthday, haha. I’m always looking for ways I can save on my summer parties. That’s why I love Price Chopper’s House of BBQ because, while I’m saving on those expensive fireworks, I save on the ingredients I need for summer grilling! Price Chopper has all your summer celebration essentials.

One thing on my grocery list all summer long {well, all year really} is definitely Betty Crocker Original Brownie Mix and I am going to share my new favorite recipe with you! Butterfinger Brookies. Have you ever made Brookies before? Br for Brownies and ookies for cookies.!. Basically they’re perfect. I made a plate to give to our neighbors and my husband let me know it was a bad idea because they’re the best brownies I’ve made in a long time! So there you have it. Go make them right now! And let me know how you like them.

But first I want to share another fun idea for all your upcoming BBQ’s and picnics this summer! 4th of July Punch! Isn’t this so much fun? Basically all you need is three drinks with varying amounts of sugar in them. I used fruit punch, blue Gatorade, and diet 7-up {3 oz. of each}. With all the colors and flavors of Gatorade the possibilities are endless! I think next time I’ll use Hawaiian Punch, Pina Colada Sobe, and Blue Gatorade…that way it will lay out red, white and blue!

Now on to that recipe!!!

Butterfinger Brookies Recipe
Recipe from Beyond Frosting
Ingredients for brownies

  • 1 Box Brownie mix
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 1/3 c oil
  • 1pk Butterfinger bites (10oz)

Ingredients for cookie dough

  • 1/2 c (1 tick) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1-3/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c butterscotch instant pudding mix (3.4 oz pkg)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 c butterscotch chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a medium bowl, combine brownie mix, egg, vegetable oil and milk, until thoroughly mixed
  3. Line a 9×13″ pan with parchment paper. Pour brownie mixture into the pan and spread evenly
  4. Line the brownie layer with Butterfinger bites, about 1/2″ away from each other {the more the better}
  5. Prepare the cookie layer
  6. Soften butter in the microwave for 10-15 seconds
  7. Combine butter with both light brown sugar and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth and mixture becomes fluffy
  8. Add egg and vanilla extract and beat until egg is thoroughly incorporated
  9. In a separate bowl combine flour, butterscotch pudding, salt and baking soda
  10. Slowly add flour mixture to dough batter while mixing at a low speed. Once the flour has been added, increase speed to medium until dough forms
  11. Add butterscotch chips and fold into cookie dough
  12. Take cookie dough and drop chunks onto the top of the brownie mixture, gently pressing them down into brownie batter
  13. Bake for 28-32 minutes at 350 degrees
  14. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before cutting
